Services for Older People Policy Group
Christian social services provide almost half of the residential care services available to older people in New Zealand, and an increasing amount of home and community support services.
NZCCSS works to ensure that government policies encourage quality services which meet the real needs of older people.
NZCCSS advocates for a vision of services that place the older person at the centre, receiving services in the way that best meets their needs.
The Council focuses on services for older people by:
- Advocating for policies that emphasise positive ageing for older people.
- Campaigning for a fairer and more efficient negotiating and contracting process to be adopted by the Ministry of Health.
- Advocating for greater certainty in funding levels across the spectrum of services for older people.
- Providing members with timely and relevant information about services for older people.
NZCCSS’ Older People's Policy Group comprises:
- Judy Hindrup, Convenor (Atawhai Assisi Home and Hospital, Hamilton)
- John Baird (Alexander Consulting, Auckland)
- Gillian Bremner (Presbyterian Support Otago)
- Shirley Hennessy (Home of St Barnabas Trust, Dunedin)
